THE WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY GREEN ROOF |
||
While working for MSBI Construction in Mena Arkansas James and Eric Turner was honored to have a once in a lifetime experience in being involved in the construction of the Green Roof project. James was project manager for MSBI and worked with the estimate for the wood work and steel erection on the project. Once MSBI got the job, James refined the drawings for the serpentine walks and decks and created CAD files that could be used to cut the tapered boards for the surface of the walks. He detailed the framing that supported the decking while onsite and sent to the shop at MSBI where a team used those drawings to cut and assemble the subframes in sections. All of the materials were lifted to the roof using a crane and assembled to create the beautiful walks. The surface material was cut from Ipe wood, sometimes referred to as Brazilian Walnut. This material is a very dense, hard, oily wood that is weather and insect resistant. (BACK)
